®®Setup• Remove shredder head from inside bin and place it on top of the bin. Using bothhands, push down firmly on shredder head to make sure it is locked in place.• Check shredder for any damage or defects. Some particles of paper may benoticed in or on the shredder which is normal due to product testing.• Plug power cord into a standard outlet.• Press the function switch to the Automatic position. The shredderis ready for use.• Place the allotted amount of paper into the shredder slot.• Always unplug before emptying the bin.MaintenanceALWAYS UNPLUG shredder before performing any maintenance. It is important to emptythe waste bin regularly to ensure the smooth operation of the cutting cylinders. Theshredder will not operate when the bin is full. Regular oiling is also necessary for properperformance. It is recommended to use shredder oil every few weeks.TroubleshootingIf you have a problem with your shredder, check the symptoms and remedies below.If you cannot solve the problem this way, contact Black & Decker paper shreddersCustomer Service. Do not open shredder head to attempt repair: It could exposeyou to electric shock and will void your warranty.Product InformationThis product is designed to shred paper, staples and credit cards. It is not intended toshred large paper clips, CD/DVDs, continuous forms, adhesive labels, transparencies,newspaper, cardboard or plastic aside from standard credit cards.
