88PPC-120/140 User's Manual8.1 IntroductionThe PPC-120/140 on-board audio interface provides high-quality stereosound and FM music synthesis (ESFM) by using the ES1869 audiocontroller from ESS Technology, Inc. The audio interface can record,compress, and play back voice, sound, and music with a built-in mixercontrol. The PPC-120/140 on board audio interface also supports the Plugand Play (PnP) standard and provides PnP configuration for audio, FM,and MPU-104 logical devices. It is compatible with Sound Blaster, SoundBlaster Pro version 3.01, voice, and music functions. The ESFMsynthesizer is register compatible with the OPL3 and has extendedcapabilities.8.2 Installation of Audio DriverBefore installing the audio driver, please take note of the proceduresdetailed below. You must know which operating system you are using inyour PPC-120/140, and then refer to the corresponding installation flowchart. Just follow the steps in the flow chart.
