Note: In some instances, RAID 10 and RAID 50 arrays may survive multiple disk drivefailures, depending on which disk drives fail.Failed SSD in maxCache ContainerBecause the maxCache Container is a redundant logical device, comprised of SSDs only, it is rebuiltautomatically when a failed SSD is replaced, just like an ordinary array. Once you identify the failed SSD,for example, by using maxView Storage Manager's rapid fault isolation feature, replace it with a newone (see Connecting Solid State Drives (SSDs) on page 32). The controller detects the new SSD andbegins rebuilding the maxCache Container.Resetting the ControllerYou may need to reset, or flash, your Adaptec RAID controller if it becomes inoperable or if a firmwareupgrade is unsuccessful. Adaptec RAID controllers support a reset protocol called HDA mode flash. Forinformation about HDA mode, see the Readme on the installation DVD or contact your supportrepresentative. To locate the flash jumper on your RAID controller board, see the illustrations in AboutYour RAID Controller on page 16.58Proprietary and Confidential to PMC-Sierra, Inc.Document No.: CDP-00277-01-A Rev.
