Operational Features41-001160-04 Rev 02, Release 2.5 5-9Configuring Operational FeaturesAdministrator PasswordsAn administrator can change the administrator passwords on the phone using theconfiguration files only.An administrator can also assign a password for using the Options key on the IPphone. You turn this feature on and off by entering the "options passwordenabled" parameter followed by a valid value in the configuration files. Validvalues are 0 (false; Options key not password protected), or 1 (true; Options keypassword protected). If this parameter is set to 1, a user has to enter a password atthe IP phone UI. If the password is entered correctly, the user is allowed to gainaccess to the Options Menu and no more password prompts display for otherpassword protected screens. If the user fails to enter the correct password in threeattempts, access to the Options Menu is denied and the IP phone returns to the idlescreen.ProcedureUse the following procedure to change the administrator password.Configuration FilesFor specific parameters you can set in the configuration files, see Appendix A, the section, “PasswordSettings” on page A-15.
