E-4How UA-705 WorksLifeSource® blood pressure monitors are easy to use, accurateand digitally display full measurement readouts. Our technology isbased on the “oscillometric method” – a noninvasive blood pressuredetermination. The term “oscillation” refers to any measure of vibrationscaused by the arterial pulse. Our monitor examines the pulsatilepressure generated by the arterial wall as it expands and contractsagainst the cuff with each heartbeat.The cuff is inflated until the artery is fully blocked. The inflation speedis maximized and the pressure level is optimized by the device. Themonitor takes measurements while the cuff is both inflating anddeflating. This results in a faster measurement providing greatercomfort to the user.Before You StartYou must install 1 type AA (1.5 volt) battery and attach the cuff to themonitor before using it (alkaline batteries recommended). To installbattery (or replace it if the “Low Battery” symbol appears on display),proceed as follows:1. Remove battery cover by gentlypushing down on handle and pullingcover off monitor.2. Place the battery in compartment withpositive (+) and negative (–) terminalsmatching those indicated in thecompartment. Be sure battery makescontact with compartment terminals.3. Replace cover by sliding it into thecompartment and gently pressing into place.NOTE: Rechargeable batteries will not work with this monitorStep 1Step 3Step 2
