Handset adviceOperating distanceThe handset will only operate in the same room as thecooker and up to a maximum distance of 4 metres fromthe appliance. If out of recommended operating range,the handset may show ‘Standby’. If this happens movethe handset back to within the recommended distanceand it should correct itself, see below.Handset to AGA eR7 Signal CheckThe (Standby) symbol is shown when in thefollowing situations;1. Standby mode2. Communications fail3. A power cut4. Handset is out of range of the AGA eR7 cookerWhen transferring information from or to the controlleralways operate the handset in front of the cooker, thisgives the strongest signal.If the handset shows Standby, when the cooker ison, press the button firmly for 1 second, this willactivate the communication link between the cookerand handset.Communication/HandshakeFor details on initial Communication/Handshake, see“Communication/handshake” page 25.Preview ModeIf the handset is out of range of the cooker or ifthe appliance is switched off, Preview only mode isavailable. Changes cannot be made to the programmedevents. The symbol is displayed in the screen andthe message ‘Preview only’ is displayed briefly when theevents programme screen is first entered.When in Preview Mode you can review the days byusing the and buttons. The and buttonsbecome inactive and you cannot make any changes.Handset FailureIn the unlikely event of handset failure, the appliancewould still be operational with the last selectedprogramme. The cooker can also be changed toManual mode from one of the auto modes using themode button on the control panel. If the handset isdamaged or lost, a replacement can be obtained fromAGA and re-programmed to suit your appliance.DO NOT PLACE THE HANDSET ON ANY HOTSURFACES.24
