Thedoor open alarm conditions are indica-ted by:• flashing Alarm indicator• acoustic buzzerWhen normal conditions are restored(door closed), the alarm will stop.4. DAILY USE4.1 Storage of frozen foodWhen first starting-up or after a periodout of use, before putting the productsin the compartment let the appliance runat least 2 hours.The freezer drawers ensure that it isquick and easy to find the food packageyou want. If large quantities of food areto be stored, remove all drawers exceptfor the bottom drawer which needs tobe in place to provide good air circula-tion. On all shelves it is possible to placefood that protrude until 15 mm from thedoor.In the event of accidental de-frosting, for example due to apower failure, if the power hasbeen off for longer that the valueshown in the technical character-istics chart under "rising time",the defrosted food must be con-sumed quickly or cooked imme-diately and then re-frozen (aftercooling).4.2 ThawingDeep-frozen or frozen food, prior to be-ing used, can be thawed in the refrigera-tor compartment or at room tempera-ture, depending on the time availablefor this operation.Small pieces may even be cooked stillfrozen, directly from the freezer: in thiscase, cooking will take longer.4.3 Freezing fresh foodThe freezer compartment is suitable forfreezing fresh food and storing frozenand deep-frozen food for a long time.To freeze fresh food activate the FROST-MATIC function at least 24 hours beforeplacing the food to be frozen in thefreezer compartment.Place the fresh food to be frozen in theFROSTMATIC compartment.The maximum amount of food that canbe frozen in 24 hours is specified on therating plate, a label located on the in-side of the appliance.The freezing process lasts 24 hours: dur-ing this period do not add other food tobe frozen.32 www.aeg.com
