The beacon case, with its external antenna, is waterproof. Thesemiconductor circuits are mounted within the case assembly that also contains the battery power supply. A “Test/ON”switch is installed on top of the beacon, along with a strobe light. The Category I beacon must be stored in its specialmount, free of obstructions aboard a vessel for automatic float-off.
