3 Maintenance3.6.1. Flushing a contaminated gearbox2113HAC022033-001 Revision: E© Copyright 2004 - 2008 ABB. All rights reserved.3.6 Cleaning activities3.6.1. Flushing a contaminated gearboxDifferent types of oilAs the Shell Tivela S 150 (Kyodo Yushi TMO 150)is not compatible with mineral oil, contamination with other types of oils used in the gearboxes is not accepted. Equipment usedin handling of Tivela S 150 (Kyodo Yushi TMO 150) must be carefully cleaned. This section details how to flush the primary gears of axis 4 and 5, and the gearbox of axis 6in case of contamination with other type of oil.Required equipmentService programCreate a program with motions on axis 3, 4, 5 and 6. There is no need to remove the tool andequipment installed on the robot if the Service program can be created and is possible to run.Recommended motion• axis 3: ± 15 degrees• axis 4-6: maximum working range with regard to the installation (limitation: axis 4and 5: ± 90 degrees, axis 6: ± 180 degrees).Draining the gearbox properlyThe contaminated gearbox must be drained properly before and during the flushingprocedure:• Axis 4 gearbox: open both oil plugs (filling and draining) and run axis 3 in differentdirections. Draw out the last volume (approx. 40 –60 ml) by using a syringe with aprepared hose end.• Axis 5 gearbox: open both oil plugs (filling and draining) and run axis 4 back andforward until the oil draining has stopped.• Axis 6 gearbox: open both oil plugs (filling and draining) and run axis 5 and 6 indifferent directions until the oil draining has stopped.Equipment Art. no. NoteLubricating oil 3HAC021469-001 Shell Tivela S 150 (001A9646)Amount: 700 ml for each gearbox andflush. Three flushes required.Oil collecting vessel -Syringe + plastic hose - D inside=4 mm, L= 400 mm.Standard toolkit 3HAC15571-1 The content is defined in section Standardtoolkit on page 394.Continues on next page
