CIRCUIT FINDERBreaker IDCIRCUIT FINDER RECEIVERBreaker IDCircuit Breaker Finder1. INSTALLING THE BATTERYLift tab on bottom end of clip to release end cap.Slide 9-V battery into compartment, terminal sidefirst, matching (+) and (-) terminals from batteryto case.Slide the clip ontothe receiver, pressingdown on batteryuntil both piecessnap together.3. LOCATING A CIRCUITNote: A small percentage of circuit boxes are mountedwith breakers oriented vertically. See diagrams forproper receiver orientation.Warning: For indoor use only on standard 110–120 VAC outlets.Plug the transmitter into the outlet that needs to be turned off.Verify that the red LED glows, indicating a live circuit.Go to the circuit panel. Turn on the receiverand hold it against the breaker as shown.5. HELPFUL HINTSIt is important to hold the receiver at an angle so that the entireCONTACT AREA of the receiver touches each circuit breaker.Slowly scan the receiver over all breakers. This calibrates the unit.During this first pass while the unit is calibrating, the receivermay indicate more than one breaker. This is normal. If you havemore than one panel, be sure to perform this step on each panel.Do not turn off the receiver.Perform a second pass over the breakers. When the greenLED glows and the buzzer sounds, you are directly over thebreaker connected to the transmitter.Turn off the breaker.Verify that the red LED on the transmitter is off, indicating a deadcircuit, before beginning work.4. CLEANING AND STORING THE UNITClean transmitter with dry cloth only. Do not expose productto liquids.Snap the transmitter and receiver together for storage.Situation Probable Causes SolutionsNo indication, i.e., nogreen LED and buzzer.Multiple indications onsecond scan.Tracing circuit connectedto light fixture.Receiver indicatesbreaker above thecorrect one.The breaker for that circuit isnot in the box being scanned.The first scan was performedtoo quickly.Receiver is held horizontallywith only the tip of the receivercontacting the breaker andnot an angle (see illustrationin Step 3).Scan the box that suppliesthat circuit.Scan again, moving the receiverslowly. Be sure to keep the nose ofthe receiver close to the breakerand maintain proper orientation.Use an outlet adapter. Screw theadapter into the socket, then plugthe transmitter into it. Or plug anextension cord into the adapter,then plug the transmitter into theextension cord.Hold the receiver at an angle sothe entire CONTACT AREA ofthe receiver touches each circuitbreaker (see illustration in Step 3).LIMITED 1 YEAR WARRANTYZircon Corporation, (“Zircon”) warrants this product to be free from defects in materials and workmanshipfor one years from the date of purchase. Any in-warranty defective product returned to Zircon*, freightprepaid with proof of purchase date and $5.00 to cover postage and handling, will be repaired or replacedat Zircon’s option.
