6SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSThe openings should never be blocked byplacing the product on a bed, sofa, rug, orother similar surface. This product shouldnot be placed in a built-in installation suchas a bookcase or rack unless proper ventila-tion is provided or the manufacturer’sinstructions have been adhered to.11. Power SourcesThis product should be operated only fromthe type of power source indicated on themarking label. If you are not sure of the typeof power supply to your home, consult yourproduct dealer or local power company. Forproducts intended to operate from batterypower, or other sources, refer to the operat-ing instructions.12. Power-Cord PolarizationThis product is equipped with a three-wiregrounding type plug, a plug having a third(grounding) pin. This plug will only fit intothe grounding-type power outlet. This is asafety feature. If you are unable to insert theplug into the outlet, contact your electricianto replace your obsolete outlet. Do notdefeat the safety purpose of the grounding-type plug.13. Power-Cord ProtectionPower-supply cords should be routed sothat they are not likely to be walked on orpinched by items placed upon or againstthem, paying particular attention to cords atplugs, convenience receptacles, and thepoint where they exit from the product.14. Outdoor Antenna GroundingIf an outside antenna or cable system isconnected to the product, be sure theantenna or cable system is grounded so asto provide some protection against voltagesurges and built-up static charges. Article810 of the National Electrical Code (U.S.A.),ANSI/ NFPA 70 provides information withregard to proper grounding of the mast andsupporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size ofgrounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to groundingelectrodes, and requirements for thegrounding electrode.15. LightningFor added protection for this product(receiver) during a lightning storm, or whenit is left unattended and unused for longperiods of time, unplug it from the wall outletand disconnect the antenna or cable sys-tem. This will prevent damage to the productdue to lightning and power-line surges.16. Power LinesAn outside antenna system should not belocated in the vicinity of overhead powerlines or other electric light or power circuits,or where it can fall into such power lines orcircuits. When installing an outside antennasystem, extreme care should be taken tokeep from touching such power lines or cir-cuits as contact with them might be fatal.17. OverloadingDo not overload wall outlets and extensioncords as this can result in a risk of fire orelectric shock.18.
