8SECTION 3: ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONSFigure 1Figure 2On some units, the J-handle may be pre-installed. Go tostep 5 if the J-handle is pre-installed.Install and Adjust the J-handle1. Place the J-handle between the top and middleclamp pieces. See Figure 1.2. While holding the three pieces together, install the four(4) screws through the top clamp and into middle clamp.NOTE: The holes in the top and middle clamp will lineup only when assembled correctly.3. Place the clamps and the J-handle over the shafthousing and onto the bottom clamp.4. Hold each hex nut in the bottom clamp recess with afinger. Start screws with a large Phillips screwdriver.Do not tighten until you make the handle adjustment.5. Slide the J-handle in or out until the arrow/white line on thedecal touches the clamp assembly. You must first loosenthe screws if the handle is pre-installed. See Figure 2.6. While holding the unit in the operating position,position the J-handle to the location that provides youthe best grip. See Figure 3.7. See Figure 7. Store parts for future use.Install the Harness1. Push the strap through the center of the buckle.2. Pull the strap over the cross bar and down throughthe slot in the buckle. See Figure 4.3. Put the harness on over head and onto shoulder.Snap it on to the support fitting. See Figure 5.4. Adjust length to fit the operator’s size. Pull tab tolengthen, pull strap to shorten. See Figure 6.WARNING: Always use the shoulderharness when using the cutting blade toavoid serious personal injury.Figure 6WARNING: The cutting attachment shieldshould NOT be installed when operating theunit with a blade. Remove the cuttingattachment shield before removing orinstalling the blade.Figure 5
