33-25 Configuring a Windows NT server to support the DocuColorYour Windows NT, Windows for Workgroups, and Windows 95 clients have access tothe shared printer through their applications. They will not be able to change settingsin the Printer Properties dialog box.Configuring Windows NT clientsEach client of a Windows NT server is already using a network protocol tocommunicate with the server. Each client can print to the DocuColor if it has beenshared by a Windows NT Server or Windows NT Workstation computer. In that casethe client does not have to use the same network protocol to connect to theWindows NT server as the server uses to communicate with the DocuColor.T O CONNECT AND PRINT TO THE D OCU C OLOR SHARED BY THEW INDOWS NT SERVER :• For Windows 95 clients, before printing, double-click the Windows NT server icon inthe Network Neighborhood window, and double-click the printer name.You will be prompted to set up the printer. When you choose to set it up, the AddPrinter Wizard dialog box appears. Follow the steps in the Getting Started.• For Windows NT 3.51 Workstation clients, before printing, open the Print Manager.From the Printer menu, choose Connect To Printer. Select a printer from the SharedPrinters list, or double-click a network, workgroup, or server icon to show additionalprinters.• For Windows NT 4.0 Workstation clients, before printing, connect to the print servercomputer and select the DocuColor. Right mouse click and choose the Open command.When prompted, click Yes to have Windows set up the printer.After clients have selected the printer, they can choose it from the Print Setup, PageSetup or Print dialog box of their application. Clients can change printing options fortheir own job, but printer properties are grayed and not available for changing. When aclient chooses Print, the job is transmitted to the Windows NT print server, and fromthere to the selected queue on the DocuColor. The job is listed in the Print Manageron the client workstation, and the administrator can track it in the DocuColor windowin the Print Manager on the Windows NT print server.
