20 21Connecting the device to a power supplyEnsure that the power cable is unplugged before connecting further components.Components already connected to the device should also be unplugged from the po-wer supply.› Make sure connections have been made accurately and not reversed, this means for exampleleft to left and right to right.Connecting analog end devices› Only use standard, shielded audio cables when connecting audio sources. Other cables maycause interference. Only connect devices equipped with the appropriate jacks, in order to avoiddistortion and mismatching, which in turn could cause damage to the device. Before connec-ting jacks, make sure the correct terminal has been selected. Audio cables/plugs, as well as theterminals on most devices, are normally red and white to help distinguish what plug is to beconnected to what jack. Connection cables are not included in delivery and must be purchasedseparately at your local dealer.› You have the opportunity to use the following jacks for end devices:Phono › This connection is only intended for record players!Tape/Aux, DVD/CD, Tuner, DAB › This connection is for connecting devices, such as a DVDor CD player, to the respective markings. These markingsserve in general as a way of helping you make the properconnections. From a technical point of view you can alsoconnect a tuner to the DVD/CD or DAB jack.Connecting speakersA two-core wire connection is required to connect the speakers. Deisolate all wiringpoints. Ensure that cables can not be damaged by any sharp edges.Chapter 5 ConnectionsChapter 5 ConnectionsOnly use speakers with a sufficient power rating (2 x 40 watts RMS at 8 ohm and 2 x50 watts RMS at 4 ohm).› Connect the loudspeakers directly to the amplifier. Never use an earphone adapter or distribu-tion box. In case of doubt, consult a specialist for further information.› Make sure that the loudspeakers are correctly polarized, i.e. that plus to plus terminals and mi-nus to minus terminals correspond.› The amplifier has been developed for operation with loudspeakers that have an impedancerating of 4 to 16 ohms.› Never use loudspeakers with a lower impedance rating.› Speakers should only be connected to these respective outputs.› Connect the positive (+) terminal of the left speaker to the red speaker terminal.› Connect the negative (–) terminal of the left speaker to the black speaker terminal.› Connect the positive (+) terminal of the right speaker to the red speaker terminal.› Connect the negative (–) terminal of the right speaker to the black speaker terminal.5Connections
