14Adjusting the Free Play of the Gear Selector – ONLY FOR THEXG-575DS1.) The gear selector mechanism uses the same system to adjustas the front and rear brakes.2.) Correct tension is achieved when gear selector is in 1st gear,the scooter should free wheel backwards. When the scooter is in2nd gear, it should not be able to free wheel backwards.3.) It is critical to ensure that when 2nd gear is selected (Fig. 18) that the clutch armpressure plate (a) is 90° to the gearbox. This can be adjusted by (b). The following are a few maintenance suggestions that will keep yourscooter running in top condition.Daily MaintenancePerform each time you ride your scooter. Clean the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp rag. Check that all nuts and bolts are securely tightened.Weekly/Monthly Maintenance Check the starter, especially the cord and return spring. Clear the exterior of the spark plug. Remove the spark plug and check the electrode gap.
