Step B - Install RO Drain Under Sink8INTRODUCTIONA suitable drain point is needed for the drain waterfrom the Reverse Osmosis Filter. You have two optionsto choose from:• Install the Drain Adapter included with your unitSee Fig 7, Fig. 8, and Fig. 9. This is used in underthe sink installations. The drain adapter kit isinstalled onto your sink drain pipe above the P-trap.See Fig. 7.• Use another existing drain in your home(See Fig 10 & 11) This is usually used in remotelocation type installations. The drain tube from theReverse Osmosis Filter runs directly to an opendrain. See Fig. 10 & 11.NOTE: An incorrectly connected drain point cancause water to leak from the faucet’s air gap.NOTE: Local code may dictate which type of draininstallation is used. Other than local code, eitherdrain install type may be used in both under thesink or remote location installations. Consult aplumber if you are not familiar with plumbing pro-cedures.INSTALL DRAIN ADAPTER KIT(Under sink Installation)A drain adapter kit is included in your package. Reviewthe drain adapter kit parts in Fig. 8. Install the drainadapter above or ahead of the P-trap. See Fig. 7 & 9.Be sure to comply with your local plumbing codes. Thedrain adapter fits 1-1/2" sink drain pipes. Other drainpipe fittings, purchased locally, may be needed in addi-tion to the adapter.1. Slowly disassemble the sink drain pipe between thesink P-trap and the sink tailpiece. See Fig. 7 & 9.2. Clean the sink tailpiece to assure a leak-tight fit.3. Install drain adapter directly onto the sink tailpieceusing the ferrule and nut. Snug the nut, but do nottighten. See Fig. 8.4. Assemble the drain tubing connector to the drainadapter using the ferrule and nut. Snug the nut, butdo not tighten. See Fig. 8.NOTE: Locate so that the drain tubing from theReverse Osmosis faucet will run straight to theadapter, with no dips, loops, or kinks. See Fig. 9.5. Turn the connector to about 45° (10:00 or 2:00position). See Fig. 8. Tighten the nut securely.6. Assemble the P-trap to the drain adapter, and otherdrain pipe fittings as required to complete the drainrun. See Fig. 7.NOTE: If needed, you can cut the unthreadedend of the adapter to make it fit. Do not cut tooshort or the adapter will not make a leak-tightseal with the connecting fitting.7. Tighten all connections, but do not over tighten plas-tic connections.FIG. 7DrainAdapterP–TrapP–TrapSingle trap Double TrapFIG. 8FIG. 9Under the Sink InstallationIMPORTANT: Locate drain adapter so that when theblack drain tube from the Reverse OsmosisFaucet is installed it will run straight to theadapter, with no dips, loops, or kinks.Black DrainTubeP–TrapDrain AdapterHOT COLDNutFerruleCut, ifneededNutFerruleDrain AdapterDrain TubingConnector45°2:0010:0045°Sink Tailpiece
