14DRYER USEStarting Your DryerThis manual covers several different models. Your dryer may nothave all of the cycles and features described.Follow these basic steps to start your dryer. Please refer tospecific sections of this manual for more detailed information.1. Clean lint screen before each load. See “Cleaning the LintScreen.”2. Place laundry into dryer and shut door.3. Press POWER.4. Turn the knob to the selected cycle. The preset settings forAutomatic Cycles or Timed Cycles will illuminate. Theestimated (automatic cycle) or actual (timed) cycle time (inminutes) will show in the display.NOTE: A default time is displayed when an automatic cycle isselected. During the first few minutes of the drying process,the cycle time may automatically vary from the default timebased on the size and fabric type of the load. Toward the endof the drying process, the estimated time display will adjustagain, showing the final drying time.To use an Automatic Cycle Press POWER. Turn the knob to desired Automatic Cycle. Select DRYNESS to adjust how dry you want the load. Asthe cycle runs, the control senses the dryness of the loadand adjusts the time automatically for the selecteddryness level.The default dryness setting is Normal when an AutomaticCycle is selected. You can select a different dryness level,depending on your load, by pressing Dryness andchoosing More, Less or Damp. Selecting More, Less orDamp automatically adjusts the sensed time needed.Once a dryness level is set, it cannot be changed withoutstopping the cycle. Select the desired Options.To make changes during an Automatic Cycle: Press PAUSE/CANCEL.WARNINGExplosion HazardKeep flammable materials and vapors, such asgasoline, away from dryer.Do not dry anything that has ever had anythingflammable on it (even after washing).Failure to follow these instructions can result in death,explosion, or fire.WARNINGFire HazardNo washer can completely remove oil.Do not dry anything that has ever had any type of oil onit (including cooking oils).Items containing foam, rubber, or plastic must be driedon a clothesline or by using an Air Cycle.Failure to follow these instructions can result in deathor fire.
