254.8 CONTROLSAll main controls on the Backhoe are mounted on top of the main frame within easy reach of the operatorsitting in the seat. It is recommended that all operators review this section of the manual to familiarize them-selves with the location and function of all machine controls before starting.Hydraulic Controls:Main backhoe hydraulic control controls are mounted on top of the main frame. The two middle leverscontrol the position of the stabilizers, the outer joy sticks control the function of the boom, dipper andbucket and the dial controls the flow for boom swing.4.8.1 MAIN BOOM CONTROL:This 4 position spring-loaded-to-neutral-centerlever (joy stick) controls the angular position of theboom.• Move and hold the lever to the left to swing theboom to the left.• Move and hold the lever to the right to swing theboom to the right.• Push and hold the lever to extend the boom.• Pull and hold the lever to pull the boom towardthe main frame.• Release the lever to stop the motion of the boomand it will stay in position.4.8.3 BOOM SWING VALVE:Boom swing speed. This dial sets the flow controlvalve that controls the amount of oil to the boomswing circuit.• Turn the dial clockwise to reduce the amount ofoil flow and slow the speed of the boom swing.• Turn the dial counterclockwise to increase thespeed of the boom swing.4.8.4 STABILIZER CONTROLS:Left Stabilizer Position / Right Stabilizer Position.This 2 position spring-loaded-to-neutral-centerlever controls the flow of oil to the left stabilizercylinder. In its centerd position, the stabilizer doesnot move.• Push and hold to lower the left stabilizer to thedesired position. Release the lever to stop thestabilizer movement.• Pull and hold the lever to raise the left stabilizer.Release the lever when the stabilizer is in itsdesired position.4.8.2 DIPPER BOOM AND BUCKETCONTROL:This 4 position spring-loaded-to-neutral-centerlever (joy stick) controls the position of the dipper,boom and bucket.• Move and hold the lever to the left to close thebucket.• Move and hold the lever to the right to open thebucket. Push and hold the lever to extend orraise the dipper boom.• Pull and hold the lever to retract or lower thedipper boom.• Release the lever to stop the motion of the dip-per boom and the bucket and they will remainin their position. |
