Do notuse this device if you are unfamiliar with electrical circuits and testingprocedures.1.2 A word about safetyThis multimeter is designed to ensure the safest operation possible. However, safeoperation depends on you, the operator. Make sure you follow these simple safetyrules :l Never apply a voltage to the multimeter that exceeds the limits given in thespecifications. Never apply more than 1000V DC or 1000V rms AC betweenan input jack and ground.l Use extreme caution when working with voltages above 60V DC or 30 V ACrms.l Always discharge filter capacitors in the power supply circuit under testbefore you attach test leads.l Never connect to a source of voltage when you select the resistancemeasurement.l Always turn off power and disconnect the test leads before you replace thebatteries or fuse.l Never operate the multimeter unless the battery cover is in place and fullyclosed. When carrying out measurements on television or switching powercircuits, always remember that there may be high amplitude voltages pulsesat test points which can damage the meter.1.3 Maintenance
