Check injector holder located at the endof burner tube again. Remove any largeparticles of dust, dirt, lint or pet hair witha soft cloth or vacuum cleaner nozzle.5. Blow air into the primary air opening onthe injector holder.6. In case any large clumps of dust have nowbeen pushed into the burner repeat steps3 and 4.Clean pilot assembly also. A yellow tip on thepilot flame indicates dust and dirt in the pilotassembly. There is a small pilot air inlet holeabout 2" from where the pilot flame comesout of the pilot assembly (see Figure 29).With the unit off, lightly blow air through theair inlet hole in the same direction as gasflow. You may blow through a drinking strawif compressed air is not available.WARNING: Turn off heaterand let cool before cleaning.CAUTION: You must keepcontrol areas, burner and circu-lating air passageways of heaterclean. Inspect these areas ofheater before each use. Haveheater inspected yearly by aqualified service person. Heatermay need more frequent clean-ing due to excessive lint fromcarpeting, pet hair, beddingmaterial, etc.WARNING: Failure to keepthe primary air openings of theburner clean may result in soot-ing and property damage.BURNER INjECTOR HOLDER ANDPILOT AIR INLET HOLEThe primary air inlet openings allow theproper amount of air to mix with the gas. Thisprovides a clean burning flame. Keep theseholes clear of dust, dirt, lint and pet hair.Clean these air inlet openings prior to eachheating season. Blocked air openings willcreate soot. We recommend that you cleanthe unit every three months during operationand have heater inspected yearly by a quali-fied service person. We also recommend that you keep the burnertube and pilot assembly clean and free of dustand dirt. To clean these parts we recommendusing compressed air no greater than 30 PSI.Your local computer store, hardware store orhome center may carry compressed air in acan. If using compressed air in a can, pleasefollow the directions on the can. If you don'tfollow directions on the can, you could dam-age the pilot assembly.1. Shut off unit, including pilot. Allow unit tocool for at least thirty minutes.2. Inspect burner, pilot and primary air inletopening on injector holder for dust anddirt (see Figure 28).3. Blow air through ports/slots and holes inthe burner.
