Troubleshooting/Maintenance 5-175.2.2 Rectifier Checking ProcedureThe rectifier bridge diodes or SCRs can be checked using a multimeter on the dioderange by following the procedure outlined below.!AttentionTo avoid an electrical shock hazard and possible damage to the equipment, follow all safety instructions listed in the front of this manual, beginning onpage i.[1] Remove powerLock off the incoming power at the main machine disconnect switch. Use anappropriate meter to verify that all DC bus capacitor banks have been dischargedto zero volts before proceeding. Set the meter to DC voltage and read acrossterminals B+ and B–. The reading should be 0 V before any attempt is made towork on the drive.[2] Disconnect power boardDisconnect all wires from terminals R, S, and T. Remove the three-phase fusesfrom the transformer or unplug the three-phase connector from the Power Board.[3] Take readingsUsing a multimeter on the diode range, take each of the readings indicated inTable 5-1 at the bridge rectifier terminals and check for the appropriate meterreading.[4] Reconnect power boardInsert the three-phase fuses or plug in the three-phase connector on the PowerBoard.[5] Take readingWith the meter, check B+ to the R1 terminal. It should read 0.25 to 0.40 V with(+) lead to R1 and open with (+) lead to B+.[6] ReplacementAny meter reading other than that specified indicates a defective diode or SCR.Replace defective components or the entire drive.[7] ReconnectReplace all wires to terminals R, S, and T.
