Parking-Brake LeverThe parking-brake lever is located on the controlpanel (Figure 7).Whenever you shut off the engine, engage the parkingbrake to prevent the machine from accidentallymoving. If the machine is parked on a steep grade,ensure that you engage the parking brake.To engage the parking brake, pull the parking-brakelever toward you (Figure 7).g033923Figure 71. Parking-brake leverDirection SelectorThe direction selector is located to the left of theparking-brake lever. The direction selector has 3positions: FORWARD, REVERSE, and NEUTRAL (Figure6).Note: The machine can be on in any of the 3positions, but only moves in the FORWARD andREVERSE positions.Important: Always stop the machine beforechanging direction.Horn ButtonInternational Models OnlyThe horn button is located on the control panel (Figure6). Press the horn button to sound the horn.Light SwitchUse the light switch (Figure 6) to illuminate theheadlights. Push the light switch up to turn on theheadlights. Push the light switch down to turn off thelights.Battery-Discharge IndicatorThe battery-discharge indicator is located tothe left of the steering column (Figure 6). Thebattery-discharge indicator indicates the remainingcharge in the batteries. When the batteries are fullycharged, 10 indicator bars extend from the 0 to the 1position. As you use the charge, the indicator barsdisappear, starting at the right side of the meter. Fordetailed information on the battery meter, refer toUnderstanding and Using the Battery System (page21).Hour MeterThe hour meter is located to the right of the lightswitch (Figure 6). Use the hour meter to find out thetotal number of operating hours. The hour meterstarts to function whenever you turn the key switch tothe ON position or if the machine is running.Note: When the machine is running, the hour meterblinks continuously, recording usage.USB Power PointThe USB power point is located to the left of theparking-brake lever (Figure 6). Use the power pointto power mobile devices.Important: When you are not using the USBpower point, insert the rubber plug to preventdamage to the power point.14
