Checking the Lubricant inthe GearboxService Interval: Every 50 hoursAfter the first 50 hoursEvery 400 hoursThe gearbox in designed to operate on SAE 80-90weight gear lube. Although the gearbox comes withlubricant from the factory, check the level beforeoperating the cutting unit. The gearbox capacity is283 ml (15 fl oz).1. Park the machine on a level surface, lower thecutting unit, engage the parking brake, shut offthe engine, and remove the key.2. Remove the dipstick/fill plug from the top ofthe gearbox (Figure 17) and ensure that thelubricant is between the marks on the dipstick. Ifthe lubricant level is low, add enough lubricantuntil the level is between the marks.g010548Figure 171. Dipstick/fill plug3.
