Do not allow adults to operatetraction unit or dethatching units without properinstruction. Only trained operators who have readthis manual should operate the traction unit ordethatching units.• Never operate the dethatching units when ill, tired,or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.• Keep all shields and safety devices in place.If a shield, safety device or decal is illegible ordamaged, repair or replace it before operating themachine. Also, tighten any loose nuts, bolts, andscrews to ensure that the dethatching unit is insafe operating condition.• Always wear substantial, slip-resistant footwear.Tie back long hair. Do not wear loose fittingclothing or jewelry. Wearing safety glasses, safetyshoes, and a helmet is advisable and required bysome local ordinances and insurance regulations.• Remove all debris or other objects that may bepicked up and thrown by the dethatching unit.Keep all bystanders away from the working area.• If the dethatching unit strikes a solid object orthe unit vibrates abnormally, shut off the engine.Check the dethatching unit for damaged parts.Repair any damage before starting and operatingthe dethatching unit.• Lower the dethatching units to the ground, andremove the key from the ignition switch wheneverthe machine is left unattended.• Ensure that the dethatching units are in safeoperating condition by keeping all hardware tight.• Remove the key from the ignition switch to preventsomeone from accidentally starting the enginewhen servicing, adjusting, or storing the machine.• Perform only those maintenance instructionsdescribed in this manual. If major repairs areever needed or assistance is desired, contact anauthorized Toro distributor.• To ensure optimum performance and continuedsafety certification of the machine, use onlygenuine Toro replacement parts and accessories.Replacement parts and accessories made byother manufacturers could be dangerous, andsuch use could void the product warranty.3
