User GuideIMPORTANT SAFEGUARDSFor your protection, please read these instructionscompletely, and keep this manual for future reference.Carefully observe and comply with all warnings, cautionsand instructions placed on the set, or described in theoperating instructions or service manual.WARNINGTo guard against injury, the following basic safetyprecautions should be observed in the installation, use, andservicing of the set.UsePower SourcesThis set should be operated only fromthe type of power source indicated onthe serial/model plate. If you are notsure of the type of electrical powersupplied to your home, consult yourdealer or local power company. Forthose sets designed to operate frombattery power, refer to the operating instructions.Grounding or PolarizationThis set may be equipped with a polarized alternating currentline plug (a plug having one blade wider than other). Thisplug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a safetyfeature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into theoutlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug still fails to fit, contactyour electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeatthe safety purpose of the polarized plug.For the set with a polarized AC power cord plugThis plug will fit into the power outletonly one way. This is a safety feature.If you are unable to insert the plugfully into the outlet, try reversing theplug. If the plug still fails to fit, contactyour electrician to have a suitable outlet installed. Do notdefeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug by forcing it in.Alternate WarningFor the set with a three-wire grounding type AC plugThis plug will only fit into agrounding-type power outlet. This isa safety feature. If you are unable toinsert the plug into the outlet, contactyour electrician to have a suitableoutlet installed. Do not defeat thesafety purpose of the grounding plug.OverloadingDo not overload walloutlets, extensioncords or conveniencereceptacles beyondtheir capacity, sincethis can result in fireor electric shock.Always turn the set off when it is not to be used. When theset is left unattended and unused for long periods of time,unplug it from the wall outlet as a precaution against thepossibility of an internal malfunction that could create a firehazard.Do not disconnect the antenna or the power cord during aheavy storm. Lightning may strike while you are holdingthe cable or cord, causing serious injury. Turn off your TVand wait for the weather to improve.Object and Liquid EntryNever push objects of any kind into the setthrough the cabinet slots as they may touchdangerous voltage points or short out partsthat could result in a fire or electric shock.Never spill liquid of any kind on the set.AttachmentsDo not use attachments not recommendedby the manufacturer, as they may causehazards.Do not place any objects, especially heavyobjects, on top of the set. The object mayfall from the set, causing injury.CleaningUnplug the set from the wall outlet beforecleaning or polishing it. Do not use liquidcleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a clothlightly dampened with water for cleaningthe exterior of the set.If a snapping or popping sound from a TV setis continuous or frequent while the TV isoperating, unplug the TV and consult yourdealer or service technician. It is normal forsome TV sets to make occasional snapping orpopping sounds, particularly when beingturned on or off.InstallationAlways use two or more people to lift or move the set. Theset is heavy and the bottom surface is flat. Serious injury canresult from trying to move the set by yourself alone, or fromunsteady handling.Install the set on a stable, level surface.Water and MoistureDo not use power-lineoperated sets near water —for example, near a bathtub,washbowl, kitchen sink, orlaundry tub, in a wetbasement, or near aswimming pool, etc.AccessoriesDo not place the set on anunstable cart, stand,tripod, bracket, table, orshelf. The set may fall,causing serious injury to achild or an adult, andserious damage to the set.Use only a cart or standrecommended by the manufacturer for the specific model ofTV. Any mounting of the product should follow themanufacturer’s instructions, and should use a mountingaccessory recommended by the manufacturer. An applianceand cart combination should be moved with care. Quick stops,excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause the applianceand cart combination to overturn.
