69Starting the playbackquickly (Quick Mode)The recorder is factory set to quickly startplayback after the playback button ispressed.You can check the setting as follows.1 While the recorder is stopped orplaying, enter the menu and select“Option” - “Quick Mode”.2 Turn the jog dial until “Quick On”appears in the display, and then pressthe dial to enter the selection.If you will not use the recorderfor a long timeSelect “Quick Off” in step 2.You can minimize battery drain while therecorder is not being used.When the quick mode is set to “Quick On”, thepower remains on within the recorder evenwhen nothing appears in the display. When therechargeable battery becomes completelydrained, the internal power supply of therecorder turns off automatically.1 Enter the menu and select “Option” -“QuickMode”.2 Press the 5-way control key towardsFR or FF until “Quick On” appears inthe display, and then press the controlkey to enter the selection.Selecting the discmode (Disc Mode)When you insert a 60/74/80-minutestandard disc (blank) into the recorder,you can use this function to specify use ofthe disc in Hi-MD mode or MD mode.If you want to use the disc recorded onthis unit on another component that doesnot support Hi-MD, record the disc with“Disc Mode” in the menu set to “MD”.1 Enter the menu and select “Option” -“Disc Mode”.2 Turn the jog dial until “Hi-MD”(factory setting) or “MD” appears inthe display, and then press the dial toenter the selection.NoteJog dialOn the recorder5-way control key(NENT, FR, FF) MENUJog dial
