Basic Operation Procedure34RecordingBasic recording can be performed with thefollowing procedures.1 Make sure that the necessary devicesare attached to the camcorder andpower is supplied to them.2 Load the memory card(s).If you load two cards, recording is continuedby automatically switching to the secondcard when the first card becomes full.3 Set the power switch (page 10) to the ONposition.The recording screen is displayed on theLCD monitor/viewfinder screen.4 Press the REC button (page 9).The REC lamp lights and recording begins.5 To stop recording, press the RECbutton again.Recording stops and the camcorder entersSTBY (recording standby) mode.Playing a recorded clipYou can play the recorded clip while thecamcorder is in standby mode.1 Insert the SxS memory card.2 Press the VIEW button in the functionbutton (page 12) once to display theVIEW-1 screen.3 Search the desired clip by pressing Prevor F Rev button on the sub display.4 Press the Play/Pause button on the subdisplay.The playback image appears on theviewfinder.Playback operation is performed by the buttonson the sub display.Play/Pause button: Pauses playback. To resumeplayback, press this button again.F Fwd button/F Rev button: Plays fast. To returnto normal playback, press the Play/Pausebutton.Stop button: Stops playback or recording.Monitoring audioIn normal playback mode, you can monitor therecorded audio signals through the built-inspeaker (page 9) or connected headphones.When connecting the headphones to theheadphones connector (page 12), the built-inspeaker is turned off.You can select audio channel to be monitored andadjust the sound volume with “Audio Output”(page 54) in the Audio menu.Cueing UpTo start playback from the top of the clipPress the Prev button or Next button on the subdisplay (page 15). You can cue to the top of thedesired clip by pressing the button repeatedly.Switching the SxS memory cardsWhen two memory cards are loaded, press theSLOT SELECT button (page 12) to switchmemory cards.NoteYou cannot switch SxS memory cards during playback.Continuous playback of cards in slots A and B is notpossible.Switching to the AXS memory cardYou can play the picture that is recorded on theAXS memory card in the AXS-R5 by developingsimply. To switch to the AXS memory card, pressthe SELECT button of the AXS-R5. Theplayback signal is output from the AUX OUTconnector of the AXS-R5.RecordingBasic Operation Procedure
