If you experiencea ringing in your ears, lower the volume ordiscontinue use.Caring for othersKeep the volume at a moderate level. Thiswill allow you to hear outside sounds andto be considerate to the people around you.If you have any questions or problemsconcerning the headphones that are notcovered in this manual, please consult yournearest Sony dealer.TroubleshootingNo sound/Muffled sound, Turn on the display monitor first, and thenput on the headphones., Check that the display monitor is turnedon., The attenuate function is activated.• Check if there is any object between thetransmitter and the headphones.• Use the headphones near the transmitter., The headphones’ power indicator lightdims, flashes or goes off.• Replace the batteries with new ones.Distorted sound, The headphones’ power indicator lightdims, flashes or goes off.• Replace the batteries with new ones.Loud background noise, Move closer to the transmitter. (As youmove away from the transmitter, morenoise is likely to be heard. This is inherentin infrared ray transmission and doesnot mean that there is a problem with theheadphones.), Check that there are no objects between thetransmitter and the headphones., Check that the infrared sensors are notobstructed by your hands or hair., Use the headphones away from directsunlight., The headphones’ power indicator lightdims, flashes or goes off.• Replace the batteries with new ones.N Operating the systemListening to aprogramBefore listening• The transmitter for the headphones is onthe display monitor.• To prevent your ears from beingdamaged, first lower the volume.1 Turn on the display monitor.2 Set the power switch to ON on theleft housing of the headphones.The headphones turn on and thePOWER indicator glows red.3 Put on the headphones.Be sure to put the right housing (R) onyour right ear and the left housing (L)on your left ear.4 Start playback.5 Turn the VOL control dial to adjustthe volume.If the infrared sensors of the headphonesare covered by your hands whenadjusting the volume, the attenuatefunction will be activated and volumecannot be adjusted. To adjust thevolume, move closer to the transmitterof the monitor, or orient the infraredemitters towards the transmitter of themonitor.Sound is automatically attenuated ifnoise increases— Attenuate functionIf the infrared rays are obstructed, orthe headphones are used outside theireffective range, noise will increase andsound will diminish. To avoid potentialear damage as a result of noise, thisfunction attenuates any sound in theheadphones. Sound is auto-maticallyrestored when you move nearer to thetransmitter or remove the obstruction.Selecting the audio channelYou can select the audio channel with theCH1/CH2 switch to avoid interferencewhen using the cordless headphones withother AV equipment. Select the audiochannel according to the Mobile MonitorXVM-F65 setting of “WireLess Headphone.”After listening to the programmesTake off the headphones, and then turnoff the power (Noise may occur if youturn off the monitor before taking off theheadphones).Replacing the earpadsThe ear pads are replaceable. If the earpads become dirty or worn out, replacethem as illustrated below.The ear pad is not commercially available.You can order replacements at yournearest Sony dealer.1 Remove the old ear pad by pullingit off.WARNINGTo prevent fire or shock hazard,do not expose the unit to rain ormoisture.Welcome!Thank you for purchasing the Sony MV-02HP Dual Channel Cordless Headphones.Before operating the unit, please read thismanual thoroughly and retain it for futurereference.The MV-02HP is a cordless stereo head-phone using infrared transmission. Youcan enjoy listening to a programme freefrom the restriction of the headphone cord.• Cordless, noiseless infrared headphoneresistant to external noise, etc.• Self-adjusting headband mechanismeliminating the need for headbandadjustment.• Single VOL control adjusts both the rightand left volume of the headphones.• Use with car monitors with built-ininfrared transmitter.N Getting startedInserting thebatteries1 Open the battery compartment lid(v) of the left housing.Approx. hours*190 hours*240 hours*22 Insert size R6 dry batteries into thebattery compartment, matchingthe battery 3 terminals with the3 marks in the compartment.3 Close the battery compartment lid.Battery life*1 at 1 kHz, 1 mW+1 mW output*2 Time stated above may vary, depending onthe temperature or conditions of use.Notes on Batteries• Do not attempt to charge dry batteries.• Do not carry batteries together withcoins or other metallic objects. Heat canbe generated if the positive and negativeterminals accidentally come into contactwith metallic objects.• If you are not going to use the unit for along time, remove the batteries to avoiddamage from battery leakage or corrosion.When to replace the batteriesWhen the batteries become weak, thepower indicator light dims, or soundbecomes distorted or noisy. Replace thebatteries with new ones as soon as possible. |
