Maximum communication range may varydepending on obstacles (human body, metal, wall, etc.) orelectromagnetic environment.ˎ The antenna is built into the unit as illustrated in the dottedline (Fig. ). The sensitivity of the BLUETooTHcommunications will improve by turning the direction of thebuilt-in antenna to the connected BLUETooTH device. Whenobstacles are between the antenna of the connected deviceand the built-in antenna of this unit, noise or audio dropoutmay occur, or communications may be disabled.ˎ BLUETooTH communications may be disabled, or noise oraudio dropout may occur under the following conditions.ē There is a human body between the unit and theBLUETooTH device.This situation may be improved by placing the BLUETooTHdevice facing the antenna of the unit.ē There is an obstacle, such as metal or wall, between theunit and the BLUETooTH device.ē A device using 2.4 GHz frequency, such as a Wi-Fi device,cordless telephone, or microwave oven, is in use near thisunit.ˎ Because BLUETooTH devices and Wi-Fi (IEEE802.11b/g/n) usethe same frequency (2.4 GHz), microwave interference mayoccur resulting in noise or audio dropout or communicationsbeing disabled if this unit is used near a Wi-Fi device. In sucha case, perform the following.ē Use this unit at least 10 m away from the Wi-Fi device.ē If this unit is used within 10 m of a Wi-Fi device, turn off theWi-Fi device.ē Install this unit and the BLUETooTH device as near to eachother as possible.ˎ Microwaves emitting from a BLUETooTH device may affectthe operation of electronic medical devices. Turn off this unitand other BLUETooTH devices in the following locations, as itmay cause an accident:ē where inflammable gas is present, in a hospital, or a petrolstationē near automatic doors or a fire alarmˎ Do not use the unit on an airplane.Radio waves may affect instruments, causing an accident dueto malfunction.ˎ This unit supports security capabilities that comply with theBLUETooTH standard to provide a secure connection whenthe BLUETooTH wireless technology is used, but security maynot be enough depending on the setting. Be careful whencommunicating using BLUETooTH wireless technology.ˎ We do not take any responsibility for the leakage ofinformation during BLUETooTH communications.ˎ Connection with all BLUETooTH devices cannot beguaranteed.ē A device featuring BLUETooTH function is required toconform to the BLUETooTH standard specified byBluetooth SIG, Inc. and be authenticated.ē Even if the connected device conforms to the abovementioned BLUETooTH standard, some devices may notbe connected or work correctly, depending on the featuresor specifications of the device.ē While talking on the phone hands free, noise may occur,depending on the device or communication environment.ˎ Depending on the device to be connected, it may requiresome time to start communications.On charging the unitˎ This unit can be charged using USB only. Personal computerwith USB port is required for charging.ˎ This unit cannot be turned on, nor can the BLUETooTHfunction be used, during charging.ˎ If you do not use the unit for a long time, the rechargeablebattery may not be able to keep sufficient charge. Thebattery will be able to keep a charge properly afterrepeatedly discharging and charging several times.ˎ If you store the unit for a long time, charge the battery onceevery half year to prevent over-discharge.ˎ If the length of time you can use the unit became extremelyshort, the rechargeable battery should be replaced with anew one. Please contact your nearest Sony dealer for abattery replacement.Note on static electricityˎ Static electricity accumulated in the body may cause mildtingling in your ears. To minimize the effect, wear clothesmade from natural materials.If the unit does not operate properlyˎ Reset the unit (Fig. ).Push the RESET button with a pointed object, such as a pin,until you feel a click. The unit will be reset. Pairinginformation is not deleted.ˎ If the problem persists even after the resetting operationabove, initialize the unit as follows.Push the RESET button with a pointed object, such as a pin,for more than 15 seconds. The indicator (blue) flashes 4 times,and the unit is reset to the factory settings. All pairinginformation is deleted.ˎ After the unit is initialized, it may not connect to your iPhoneor computer. In this case, delete the pairing information ofthe unit from the iPhone or computer, and then pair themagain.Splash proof performanceThe splash proof specifications 1) of this unit are equivalent toIPX4 2) in IEC 60529 “Degrees of protection against ingress ofwater (IP Code)”, which specifies the degree of protectionprovided against the entry of water. However, the unitcannot be used in water. Unless the unit is used correctly,water may get into the unit and cause fire, electrocution, ormalfunctions. Note the following cautions carefully and usethe unit correctly.liquids that the splash proof performancespecifications apply toApplicable: Fresh water, tap water, perspirationNot applicable: Liquids other than those above(examples: soapy water, detergent water, water with bathagents, shampoo, hot spring water, pool water, seawater,etc.)1) Make sure that the micro-USB port cover is closed securelywhen you use the unit.2) IPX4 (degree of protection against splashing water):Protected against water splashing from any direction.Splash proof performance of the unit is based on Sonymeasurements under the conditions described above. Notethat malfunctions as a result of water immersion caused bymisuse by the customer are not covered by the warranty.To maintain splash proof performanceNote the following cautions carefully and use the unitcorrectly.ˎ Do not drop the unit or expose it to mechanical shock.Doing so may deform or damage the unit, resulting indeterioration of splash proof performance.ˎ Do not put the unit in water or use it in a humid place suchas a bathroom.ˎ The micro-USB port cover is important for maintainingsplash proof performance. Make sure the micro-USB portcover is closed securely when you use the unit. If the coverhas any foreign objects on it or is not completely closed,splash proof performance cannot be maintained. Inaddition, water may get into the unit and causemalfunctions.ˎ Do not splash water forcibly against the cylindrical partfrom which sound is emitted. Doing so may deteriorate thesplash proof performance of the unit.ˎ Wipe off with a soft dry cloth any water that gets on theunit. If water remains in the earbud holes, the sound mayseem low or not be audible at all. In this case, remove theearbuds, face the sound conduit downward, and shake thesound conduit a couple of times (Fig. ).ˎ Do not leave the unit with water on it in cold places as thewater may freeze. In order to avoid malfunctions, makesure that you wipe off water after use.Othersˎ Do not place this unit in a place exposed to humidity, dust,soot or steam, subject to direct sunlight, or in a car waiting ata traffic signal. It may cause a malfunction.ˎ Using the BLUETooTH device may not function on mobilephones, depending on radio wave conditions and locationwhere the equipment is being used.ˎ If you experience discomfort after using the BLUETooTHdevice, stop using the BLUETooTH device immediately.Should any problem persist, consult your nearest Sony dealer.ˎ Listening with this unit at high volume may affect yourhearing. For traffic safety, do not use this unit while driving orcycling.ˎ Do not put weight or pressure on this unit as it may cause theunit to deform during long storage.ˎ Do not subject the unit to excessive shock.ˎ Clean the unit with a soft dry cloth.ˎ Do not use the unit with the cord wound around your neck.Doing so may lead to suffocation.ˎ Do not sleep while wearing the unit.
