Making Video ConnectionsYour TV includes several types of video inputs. Use the inputs thatare available on your components that provide the best videoperformance, as described below.Additional ConnectionsFor best audio performance, connect your digital audio componentsusing either digital optical or digital coaxial audio connections.Depending on which components are in your system, you may needto complete additional connections. For example, if you have asatellite receiver, you’ll need to connect the satellite antenna. If youhave an A/V receiver, you’ll need to connect speakers.Best Video PerformanceHDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface)Component videoS VIDEOComposite videoRF/CoaxialGood Video PerformanceIf you are using a CableCARD, an i.LINK device, or the digital audio (optical)output connector, see the Operating Instructions for details.The connection diagrams shown on the reverse side are recommendationsonly; other possible solutions may exist. Connections that include an A/Vreceiver can often be very complex, so check your A/V receiver’s instructionmanual for additional details.Programming theRemote ControlThe remote control is preset to operate Sony brand video equipment.If you have video equipment other than Sony brand that you want tocontrol with the TV’s remote control, use the following procedure toprogram the remote control.1 Using the list below, find the three-digit codenumber for the manufacturer of yourequipment. (If more than one code number islisted, use the number listed first.)2 Open the remote control and set the A/V slideswitch to i.LINK/AV1, AV2, AV3, or DVD. Then closethe remote control.If the device that you wish to program isconnected through i.LINK, you must set theslide switch to AV1.3 Press .4 Enter the three-digit manufacturer’s codenumber.5 Press .You must do step 5 within 10 seconds of step 4,or you must redo steps 3 through 5.6 To check if the code number works, aim the TV’sremote control at the equipment and press thepower button that corresponds with thatequipment. If it responds, you are done. These items are all you need to setup and use the TV.Inserting Batteries1 Remove the battery cover from the remote control.2 Insert two size AA (R6) batteries (supplied) by matching the eand E terminals on the batteries to the diagram inside the batterycompartment.3 Replace the battery cover.❑ Remove the batteries to avoid damage from possible batteryleakage whenever you anticipate that the remote control will notbe used for an extended period.❑ Handle the remote control with care.❑ Avoid dropping it, getting it wet, placing it in direct sunlight, neara heater, or where the humidity is high.11 2ConnectingYour TVReview the following chart to determine which diagram to use toconnect the components in your system:❑ See the “Cables Required” chart that appears with the diagram todetermine which cables you’ll need. You may need to purchaseextra accessories, such as cables and splitters, depending on thecomponents you plan to connect.❑ Turn off and unplug all components before making connections.❑ If you are connecting a digital cable box, you’ll need a special bi-directional splitter that’s compatible with your cable box. The Initial Setup screens appear when you turn on your TVfor the first time after hooking it up.1 Press to turn on the TV.The Initial Setup screen appears.2 Using the joystick on the remote control, move the highlight to thedesired language, then press to select that language. The TiltCorrection screen appears.3 Move the joystick B or b to correct any tilt of the picture. You canchoose a correction between +7 and -7. When finished, press .The Vertical Correction screen appears.4 Move the joystick V or v to make a vertical correction to thepicture. You can choose a correction between +5 and -5. Whenfinished, press .5 The next screen instructs you to connect your cable/antenna.Check that you’ve connected your signal source correctly.To start Auto Program, move the joystick to highlight Yes and thenpress .Auto Program automatically creates a list of receivable analog anddigital channels. Auto Program may take 50 minutes or more tocomplete.
