NOTES ON LITHIUM BATTERY Wipe the battery with a dry cloth to assure agood contact. Be sure to observe the correct polarity wheninstalling the battery. Do not hold the battery with metallictweezers, otherwise a short-circuit mayoccur. Do not expose the battery to excessive heatsuch as direct sunlight, fire or the like.If you have any questions or problemsconcerning your unit, please consult yournearest Sony dealer.General informationAbout the battery as abackup power sourceThis unit contains a CR2032 battery as a backuppower source to keep the clock and the alarmoperating during a power interruption. (NoPower No Problem system)When to replace thebatteryWhen the battery is discharged, “” appearson the display.If a power interruption occurs while the batteryis discharged, the current time and alarm willbe erased.Note If “AM 12:00” flashes on the display when theunit is connected to an AC outlet for the firsttime, the battery may be discharged. In thiscase, consult your nearest Sony dealer.Replacing the backupbattery1 Keep the AC plug connected to thewall outlet, then open the batterycompartment on the bottom of theunit. Fully loosenthe screw. Push the taband pull upthe lid.2 Remove the old battery by sliding itout and picking it up.3 Insert a new battery into the batterycompartment with the side facingup.CR20324 Replace the battery compartment lidand tighten the screw.5 Press AM/FM/NATURE SOUND toremove “” from the display.Notes When you replace the battery, do notdisconnect the AC plug from the wall outlet.Otherwise, the current date and time, alarm,and station presets will be erased. If the clock is erased while you are replacingthe battery, set the clock again. (See “Settingthe clock manually”) If the unit will be left unplugged for a longtime, remove the battery to avoid anydamage that may be caused by leakage orcorrosion.TroubleshootingShould any problems persist after you havemade the following checks, consult yournearest Sony dealer.The clock flashes “0:00” or “AM 12:00”after a power interruption. The battery is discharged. Remove the oldbattery and insert a new one.Unsatisfactory reception Extend the FM wire antenna fully to increasereception sensitivity. Connect the supplied AM loop antenna tothe unit. Rotate the antenna horizontally foroptimum reception. Do not place the AM loop antenna near theunit or other AV equipment, as noise mayresult. Keep digital music players or mobile phonesaway from the AM loop antenna or the FMantenna, as this may lead to receptioninterference.The alarm does not sound at the presetalarm time. Check that “A” or “B” appears on the display.The radio or Nature Sound alarm isactivated but no sound is emitted atthe preset alarm time. Check the alarm volume setting.When daylight saving time (summertime) begins, the clock does not switchto daylight saving time (summer time)automatically. Make sure the clock is set correctly. In this case, refer to “Settingthe clock manually” to set the correct time.About Automatic DST/summer time adjustmentThis unit automatically adjusts for daylightsaving time (summer time). “DST” automaticallyappears on the display at the beginning ofdaylight saving time (summer time), anddisappears at the end of daylight saving time(summer time). Daylight saving time (summer time) beginsat 2:00 AM on the second Sunday of March. Standard time begins at 2:00 AM on the firstSunday of November.Notes The implementation of DST/summer timeand its beginning/ending date and time aresubject to circumstances and laws in eachcountry/region. Should this interfere with thedesired adjustment, cancel the AutomaticDST/summer time adjustment and set theclock manually as necessary. Customersliving in a country/region that does not usedaylight saving time (summer time) shouldcancel the Automatic DST/summer timeadjustment before using the unit.
