Software with multi channelsurround audio signals is played backaccording to the way it was recorded.Software with 2 channel audio signals isdecoded with Dolby Pro Logic to createsurround effects.xAUTO FORMAT DIRECT PROLOGIC MOVIEThis mode performs the Pro Logic II moviemode decoding. This setting is ideal for themovies encoded in Dolby Surround.Besides, this mode can reproduce the soundin 5.1 channel when watching the videos ofold movies or in the dubbed language.xAUTO FORMAT DIRECT PROLOGIC MUSICThis mode performs the Pro Logic II musicmode decoding. This setting is ideal for thenormal stereo sources, such as CDs.xROCK, POP, JAZZ, CLASSIC,DANCEEach mode provides sound to suit musicsources.xNEWS, SPORTS, MOVIEEach mode provides sound to suit thesource.xHEADPHONE 2 CHANNEL STEREOThis mode outputs the sound from theheadphone L/R. Standard two channel(stereo) sources completely bypass thesound field processing. Multi channelsurround formats are downmixed to twochannels.xHEADPHONE SURROUNDThis mode outputs the sound as surroundfrom headphone L/R.To turn the surround effect offPress SOUND FIELD +/– until “A.F.D.AUTO” or “2CH ST.” appears on the frontpanel display.When connecting the headphones tothe PHONES jackPress SOUND FIELD +/– on the remoteuntil “HP. 2CH” appears in the front paneldisplay.z The system memorizes the last soundfield selected for each function mode (SoundField Link)Whenever you select a function such as DVD orTUNER, the sound field that was last applied to thefunction is automatically applied again. For example,if you listen to DVD with “JAZZ” as the sound field,then change to another function, and then return toDVD, “JAZZ” will be applied again. With the tuner,sound fields are memorized separately for all presetstations.z You can identify the encoding format ofprogram software by looking at its packaging– Dolby Digital discs are labelled with the logo.– Dolby Surround encoded programs are labelledwith the logo.– DTS Digital Surround discs are marked with DTS.NoteWhen you play sound tracks with 96 kHz samplingfrequency, the output signals will be converted to48 kHz (sampling frequency).
