However, since theaudio material side does not conform tothe Compact Disc (CD) standard,playback on this product is notguaranteed. And, some discs cannot beinserted into the server.• Do not use DualDiscs. To avoidlosing important data, observe thefollowing precautions.• Do not apply a strong shock to the unit.• Do not place the unit in a locationsubject to mechanical vibrations or inan unstable location.• Do not place the unit on top of a hotsurface, such as a VCR or amplifier(receiver).• Do not use the unit in a place subject toextreme changes in temperature(temperature gradient less than 75 F°(10 °C)/hour).• Do not move the unit with its ACpower cord connected.• Do not disconnect the AC power cordwhile the power is on.• When disconnecting the AC powercord, turn off the power and make surethat the hard disk drive is not operating(the clock is displayed in the frontpanel display and all recording,copying, or importing has stopped).• Do not move the unit for one minuteafter you have unplugged the ACpower cord.• Do not attempt to replace or upgradethe hard disk by yourself, as this mayresult in malfunction.If the hard disk drive shouldmalfunction, you cannot recover lostdata. The hard disk drive is only atemporary storage space.About repairing the hard diskdrive• The contents of the hard disk drive maybe checked in case of repair orinspection during a malfunction ormodification. However, the contentswill not be backed up or saved by Sony.• If the hard disk needs to be formatted orreplaced, it will be done at thediscretion of Sony. All contents of thehard disk drive will be erased,including contents that violatecopyright laws.On recordingMake trial recordings before making theactual recording.On compensation for lostrecordingsSony is not liable and will notcompensate for any lost recordings orrelated losses, including whenrecordings are not made due to reasonsincluding recorder failure, or when thecontents of a recording are lost ordamaged as a result of recorder failure orrepair undertaken to the recorder. Sonywill not restore, recover, or replicate therecorded contents under anycircumstances.Copyrights• Television programs, films, videotapes, discs, and other materials may becopyrighted. Unauthorized recordingof such material may be contrary to theprovisions of the copyright laws. Also,use of this recorder with cabletelevision transmission may requireauthorization from the cable televisiontransmitter and/or program owner.• This product incorporates copyrightprotection technology that is protectedby U.S. patents and other intellectualproperty rights.
