5. B-Chain Alignment.B-Chain alignment is performed using the DFP-D2500, Setup Software, and your owntest equipment. To begin, connect your computer to the Decoder using a null modemcable, run the Setup Software, and “connect” the Setup Software to the DFP-D2500using the Config>Connect to DFP… menus. Set up your microphones and analyzer inthe theater. Refer to SMPTE Standard 202M, B-Chain Electroacoustic Response, formore detailed information on microphone placement, theatre acoustics, and the “X”curve.Note that the DFP-D2500 must be set up with the Master Fader nominally set to 0.0 (not7) and that from this position 10 dB of boost and full cut is available, with an audio/dBfader taper.1. Move all Channel Level Trims to thecenter setting (0.0 dB). Center allequalizer sliders at 0.0 dB. To quicklyset all EQ levels to 0.0 dB, access theReset Channel function in the Toolspull-down menu located in the mainscreen menu bar. Link the channel mutes to thechannel selects using the Toolsselection of the main screen andselecting Link Mute Channels toChannel Select.3.
