13GBGBTroubleshootingIn order to keep your TV software up-to-date, itis necessary to download the latest softwareinformation via the digital broadcasting systemor Internet and to update the software. Select[Update Now] to start a software update. Theillumination LED flashes white while thesoftware is updating. Do not unplug the ACpower cord during the software update. If youdo, the software update may not finishcompletely, and it may cause a softwaremalfunction. Software updates can take up to30 minutes. If you do not wish to update thesoftware automatically, press HOME and select[Help] t [System software update] t[Automatic software download] t [Off].When you plug in TV, the TV may not be able toturn on for a while even if you press the powerbutton on the remote control or the TV, becauseit takes time to initialize the system. Wait forabout one minute, then operate it again. Whenyou turn on by pressing the power button onthe remote control or the TV, it takes some timeto turn on the illumination LED and for theremote control to be functional.When the illumination LED is flashing in red,count how many times it flashes (intervaltime is three seconds).If the illumination LED flashes red, reset the TVby disconnecting the mains lead for twominutes, then turn on the TV.If the problem persists, contact your dealer orSony service centre with the number of timesthe Illumination LED flashes red (interval time isthree seconds). Disconnect the mains lead, andinform your dealer or Sony service centre.When the illumination LED is not flashing,check the items as follows.You can also refer to [Troubleshooting] in theHelp Guide or perform self-diagnosis byselecting [Help] t [Self Diagnostics]. If theproblem persists, have your TV serviced byqualified service personnel.Troubles and SolutionsThere is no picture (screen is dark) and nosound. Check the antenna (aerial)/ cable connection. Connect the TV to mains lead, and press  on theTV or  on the remote control.Some programmes cannot be tuned. Check the antenna (aerial)/ cable connection ordish. The satellite cable might be short-circuited orthere might be connection problems of the cable.Check the cable connection and then turn the TVoff with the Mains power On/Off switch, and turnit on again. The frequency that you entered is out of range.Consult the received satellite broadcastingcompany.There is no Cable TV services (programmes)found. Check the cable connection or tuningconfiguration. Attempt the [Digital Auto Tuning] by selecting[Antenna] instead of [Cable].The remote control does not function. Replace the batteries.The [Parental lock] password has beenforgotten. Enter 9999 for the PIN code. (PIN code 9999 isalways accepted.)The TV surrounds become warm. When the TV is used for an extended period, theTV surrounds become warm.You may feel hot when touching there by thehand.Frozen audio or video, a blank screen, or theTV does not respond to TV or remote controlbuttons. Perform a simple reset of the TV by unpluggingthe mains lead for two minutes, then plug it inagain.
