Also never move or transport the drive with thedisc cartridge still inserted.■ If problems occurIf any problems occur, turn off and unplug the drive, andthen contact your dealer.■ CleaningCleaning the drive unitDO NOT USE LENS CLEANING DEVICES.The internal lens cleaning feature enhances dust protection.Preventive measures were taken into account in the drivedesign to guard against dust, therefore there is no need toclean the optical lens of the drive. Using a lens cleaningdevice may damage the lens.Cleaning discsRefer to the discription of the media.■ Cartridge storageKeep cartridges away from heat sources such as radiators,or locations subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust,and/or moisture.Cooling requirementsForced-air cooling is required throughout the drive toprevent overheating of the drive mechanism and electricalcomponents. Forced-air cooling must be provided as a partof system integration.This maximum temperature applies to all operatingconditions specified in this manual.Measuring point Maximum temperatureDisc cartridge 55 °C (131 °F)The temperature conditions specified in this manual mustalways be met for the BW-F101 to function properly.Safety RegulationsOwner’s RecordThe model and serial numbers are located on the top of thedrive. Record the serial number in the space provided below.Refer to them whenever you call upon your dealerregarding this product.Model No. BW-F101Serial No._________________________InformationYou are cautioned that any changes or modifications notexpressly approved in this manual could void yourauthority to operate this equipment.WARNINGTo reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do notexpose this apparatus to rain or moisture.To avoid electrical shock, do not open the cabinet.Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.CAUTIONAs the laser beam used in the BW-F101 is harmful to the eyes,do not attempt to disassemble the unit.Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.The use of optical instruments with this product will increaseeye hazard.The use of controls or adjustments or performance ofprocedures other than those specified herein may result inhazardous radiation.Using a Disc Cartridge■ Inserting a cartridgeInsert the cartridge from the front of the drive, asillustrated.Notes• To avoid damaging the drive, take care not insert thecartridge in the wrong direction.• To avoid locking the cartridge, do not insert it into thedrive when the drive is off. If the cartridge is locked, turnon the drive, confirm that the cartridge is completelyloaded into the drive, and then push the eject button.■ Protecting dataData cartridges are equipped with a write-protect switch toprevent the accidental deletion of data on the disc or theinadvertent writing of unwanted data.Slide the switch in the direction of the arrow as illustratedbelow. A red surface appears in place of the switch toindicate that the cartridge is write-protected. To release theprotection, return the switch to its original position.Write-protect switch■ Ejecting a cartridgeIf a cartridge cannot be ejected with the eject button orSCSI EJECT command, turn off the drive, remove theemergency eject hole cover, insert a Philips screwdriver(diameter 5 mm/0.2 in. or less) into the hole, and then turnit counterclockwise while pushing it forward until thecartridge comes out from the drive. To avoid damaging thedrive and/or the cartridge, do not force the screwdriver toturn if you feel resistance.NoteIf the cartridge still cannot be ejected after performing theabove, contact your dealer.Printed on 100% recycled paper using VOC (Volatile OrganicCompound)-free vegetable oil based ink. |
