P/N 315-093298-2Installation InstructionsMODELS BB-55 and BB-55RBattery Box(For indoor use only in dry environments)INTRODUCTIONThe Model BB-55 or BB-55R from Siemens Industry,Inc. is used to house BTX-1 (31 AH) and BTX-2 (55AH) batteries for the MXL/MXLV/MXL-IQ System. TheBB-55 is black and the BB-55R is red.The backbox can be mounted on a flat surface withfour user-supplied bolts that are a maximum of 3/8 inchin diameter.INSTALLATIONPrior to installation, consider the following:• Weight and size of the enclosure.• Local codes.1. Select a clean, dry, shock and vibration freesurface.2. Position the backbox directly beneath the MXLenclosure to which it will be wired, lining up theknockouts in the BB-55 with the knockouts in theMXL enclosure.3. Position the backbox so that it is clear ofobstructions and the front door opens freely.4. Mark the locations of the two upper mountingbolts of the backbox on the wall. (See Figure 2.)5. Drill the two holes located in the previous stepand screw in the top bolts, leaving a small gapbetween the wall and each top bolt.6. Place the backbox over the two top bolts andallow it to slide down over the bolts.7. Mark, drill, and install the two bottom bolts in thebackbox.8. Tighten all four bolts securely against the backwall of the backbox.9. Remove the knockouts in the top of the batterybox and bottom of MXL enclosure for entry ofbattery wiring.2. Connect the Battery Wire Assembly to thebatteries in the BB-55.
