5-16 ACUSON Freestyle User ManualScanningMeasurementsPerforming a MeasurementThe measurements function can be performed from real-time scanning or starting with a frozenimage. Up to ten individual measurements can be made on an image.To perform measurements on an image:1. Press the MEASURE Soft Key. The image will freeze and the measurement choices willappear in a menu above the key.2. Use the Rotary knobs to make your selection, highlighting the item with the outer knob,and activating it with the inner knob.3. When you select DISTANCE, a cross-hair cursor will appear on the screen. Place this atthe starting point using the Trackball, then press the left Trackball button.4. Use the Trackball to place the cursor at the endpoint, then press the left button againto complete the measurement. During the drawing, you can reverse direction using theTrackball to back up and delete parts of the trace. The numerical result is shown next tothe drawing.5. Press Save to save an image with measurements.Deleting MeasurementsPress DELETE to delete the last completed measurement.To skip to an earlier measurement for deleting, use Next.To delete all measurements, press DELETE ALL.Ellipse MeasurementTo perform an ellipse measurement:1. Activate the ellipse function by selecting ELLIPSE from the MEASURE sub-menu. Thisbrings up a cross-hair cursor you can position with the Trackball at the area of interest.2. To display the ellipse form, press the left Trackball button. With the cursor inside theellipse, press the left button continuously and use the Trackball to reposition the ellipse.3. To change the size or shape of the ellipse, place the cursor well outside of the ellipse andpress the left button continuously use the Trackball to change the shape or size of theellipse, moving the cursor to different positions around the ellipse to do so.4. When you have finished, double-click the left Trackball button to complete themeasurement.NOTE: It is possible to perform measurements on images being viewed from theStudy List, but the measurements cannot be saved in this case.
