About Media TypesThe following CD-RW/R discs cannot be played.• Discs on which data has not been recorded cannot beplayed back.• Discs recorded in a format other than an Audio CD andJPEG/audio file format cannot be played back.• Discs may not be played back depending on theirrecording status or the status of the disc itself.• Discs may not be played back depending on theircompatibility with this Player.*2 About the JPEG file formatJPEG is a type of file format for storing still-image files(photos, illustrations, etc.). The Player lets you play JPEGformat still-image files.File formats that are not compatible.• Still images in formats other than JPEG (such as TIFF)cannot be played.• There may be some files that cannot be played even ifthey are in JPEG format.• Progressive JPEG files cannot be played.• Moving image files as well as Motion JPEG format filescannot be played, even though they are JPEG files.Other files that cannot be played back.• You may not be able to play some still images which youhave created, touched up, copied or otherwise edited onyour computer.• You may not be able to play some still images you haveprocessed (rotated or saved by overwriting other imagesyou have imported from the Internet or e-mail).You may experience one or more of the followingsymptoms when playing files.• It may take some time to play files depending on thenumber of folders, number of files and volume of datainvolved.• EXIF information will not be displayed. EXIF stands forExchangeable Image File Format, and is a standard forstoring interchange information in image files, especiallythose using JPEG compression. (Refer to http://exif.orgfor more information.)*3 About audio file formatThere are several audio file formats played on this playerbelow.FLAC (***.flac), WAV (***.wav), DSF (***.dsf), DSDIFF (***.dff),MP3 (***.mp3), WMA (***.wma), AIFF (***.aiff, ***.aif), ALAC(***.m4a), AAC (***.mp4, ***.m4a, ***.aac, ***.m4b), see page36 for detail.Playing audio file• Some files that have above extensions or files that havenot been recorded in above format will produce noise orcannot by played.• Audio files are not played in the order they were recorded.• It is recommended to record data at a lower speed asdata recorded at a fast speed can produce noise and maynot be able to be played.• The more folders there are, the longer the reading time.• Depending on the folder tree, reading audio files can taketime.• The playing time may not be correctly displayed duringaudio file playback.The following files cannot be played on this player.• When both Audio CD [CD-DA] format and audio fileformats are recorded on a disc. (The disc is recognized tobe an Audio CD [CD-DA] only tracks in Audio CD [CD-DA]format are played back.)• Multi-session discs cannot be played.• DRM encrypted WMA cannot be played.• Compressed DSD format (DST) cannot be played.About files/folders for Still images(JPEG files) and audio dataYou can play still images (JPEG files) /audio data (FLAC,WAV, DSF/DSDIFF, AIFF, ALAC, AAC, WMA. MP3 files) withthis unit by making folder(s) on discs or USB devices asshown below.Example of a folder structure:Including the root directory, the maximum number offolders and files in each folder is limited to 256 in total.File and folder requirements• The discs or USB devices which this player can play back(recognize) are limited to the following properties:Contains EXIF format files (only JPEG files)Picture resolution: Between 32 x 32 and 6528 x 3672pixels (only JPEG files)Maximum number of folders and files in each folder:256Maximum hierarchy level of folders: 5File size:8 MB or less (JPEG files)200 MB or less (MP3 files)NOTE• File and folder names displayed on this player may differfrom those displayed on PCs.• If an AIFF, ALAC, or AAC file cannot be played back,update the software of this player (page 50).DIVXThis DivX Certified® device has passed rigorous testing toensure it plays DivX ® video.To play purchased DivX movies, first register your deviceat vod.divx.com.
