71AppendixGlossaryProgressive formatCompared to the Interlace format that alternatelyshows every other line of an image (field) to createone frame, the Progressive format shows the entireimage at once as a single frame. This means thatwhile the Interlace format can show 30 frames/60fields in one second, the Progressive formatcan show 60 frames in one second.
