GENERAL SAFETY3 familiarise yourself with the controls and limitations of themower. this is a portable electric appliance, use an rcd.3 ensure the mower is in good order and condition before use. The mower must only be serviced by anauthorised agent (except for blade replacement).3 maintain the mower in good condition and replace anydamaged or worn parts. use genuine parts only.Unauthorised parts may be dangerous and will invalidateyour warranty.3 Inspect the lawn prior to cutting, removing obstructions includingmolehills.3 Keep children and unauthorised persons away from theworking area7 DO NOT use this product to perform a task for which it hasnot been designed. Grassed lawns only.3 Wear safety glasses, ear defenders and in dusty conditions aface mask.7 DO NOT operate the hover mower barefoot or wearing opensandles, always wear substantial footwear and long trousers.7 DO NOT carry the mower by the cable or pull the cable todisconnect from mains.7 DO NOT start the mower with blades fully exposed.7 DO NOT put your hands or feet under the cutter deck.3 mow only in daylight or good artificial light.3 Avoid mowing when grass is wet, never when raining.3 extra care is required when mowing slopes, be sure of yourfooting. Hint-: starting at the top of the slope, mow with asweeping arc action from side to side across the face, not upand down the slope.3 Keep the cable away from the cutter deck.3 switch off the mower, wait for blades to stop rotating andremove plug from socket to carry out any user tasks such asleaving unattended,clearing, cleaning, transporting, storing andinspecting.3 If used with an extension lead, seek advice from a qualifiedelectrician on cable insulation, sizes and lengths.1.1. ELECTRICAL SAFETY WARNING! It is the responsibility of the owner and the operatorto read, understand and comply with the following: You mustcheck all electrical products, before use, to ensure that they aresafe. You must inspect power cables, plugs, sockets and anyother connectors for wear or damage. You must ensure that therisk of electric shock is minimised by the installation ofappropriate safety devices. A residual current circuit Breaker(rccB) should be incorporated in the main distribution board.We also recommend that a residual current device (rcd) isused. It is particularly important to use an rcd with portableproducts that are plugged into a supply which is not protectedby an rccB. If in any doubt consult a qualified electrician. Youmay obtain a residual current device by contacting yoursealey dealer. You must also read and understand thefollowing instructions concerning electrical safety.1.1.1. the Electricity at Work Act 1989 requires that all portableelectrical appliances, if used on business premises, are testedby a qualified electrician, using a Portable Appliance tester(PAt), at least once a year.1.1.2. the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 makes owners ofelectrical appliances responsible for the safe condition of thoseappliances and the safety of the appliance operators. If in anydoubt about electrical safety, contact a qualifiedelectrician.1.1.3. ensure that the insulation on all cables and on the appliance issafe before connecting it to the power supply. see 1.1.1. and1.1.2. and use a Portable Appliance tester.1.1.4. ensure that cables are always protected against short circuitand overload.1.1.5. regularly inspect power supply cables and plugs for wear ordamage and check all connections to ensure that none areloose.1.1.6. Important: ensure that the voltage marked on the appliancematches the power supply to be used and that the plug is fittedwith the correct fuse - see fuse rating below.1.1.7. DO NOT pull or carry the appliance by the power cable.1.1.8. DO NOT pull the plug from the socket by the cable.1.1.9. DO NOT use worn or damaged cables, plugs or connectors.Immediately have any faulty item repaired or replaced by aqualified electrician. When a Bs 1363/A uK 3 pin plug isdamaged, cut the cable just above the plug and dispose of theplug safely.fit a new plug according to the following instructions (uK only).a) Connect the GREEN/YELLOW earth wire to the earthterminal ‘E’.b) Connect the BROWN live wire to the live terminal ‘L’.c) Connect the BLUE neutral wire to the neutral terminal‘N’.d) After wiring, check that there are no bare wires, thatall wires have been correctly connected, that the cableouter insulation extends beyond the cable restraint andthat the restraint is tight.double insulated products, which are always marked with thissymbol , are fitted with live (brown) and neutral (blue) wiresonly. to rewire, connect the wires as indicated in diagram.DO NOT connect either wire to the earth terminal.1.1.10. some products require more than a 13 amp electrical supply. Insuch a case, NO plug will be fitted. You must contact a qualifiedelectrician to ensure a 30 amp fused supply is available. Cable extension reels.When a cable extension reel is used it should be fully unwoundbefore connection. A cable reel with an rcd fitted isrecommended since any product which is plugged into thecable reel will be protected. the section of the cores of thecable is important. We suggest 1.5mm² section cable as aminimum, but to be absolutely sure that the capacity of thecable reel is suitable for this product and for others that may beused in the other output sockets, we recommend the use of2.5mm² section cable. |
