The appliance can only be installed in a room whichmeets the ventilation regulations in force. But, in anyevent the room must have a permanent vent of minimumfree air area, see below.IMPORTANT: THE LOUVERED AIR INTAKE AT THEBOTTOM FRONT OF THIS APPLIANCE MUST BEKEPT CLEAR OF ANY OBSTRUCTIONS.Detailed recommendations for air supply are given in theBuilding Regulations and in BS 5410: Part 1. Thefollowing notes are intended to give general guidance.1. Combustion and ventilation air supply to oil firedappliance has to comply with the Building Regulationsand with BS 5410: Part 1. The air supply requirement foroil fired appliance is 550mm 2 per kW of maximum ratedoutput above 5 kW. These requirements are illustrated inOFTEC Technical Book No. 3.2. The combustion air supply to open flued appliancesshould normally be provided at high level into a roomwhere it will not cause discomfort by creating a colddraught across the floor.3. If combustion air is supplied through an under floorduct the grilles at each end should be positioned in thevertical plane to reduce the risk of blockage. Ducts shouldbe sized so as to reduce the resistance to air flow.4. The ventilation requirement for kitchens in Part F ofthe Building Regulations (England & Wales) is formechanical extract at the rate of 60 litres per second or 30litres per second if the fan is incorporated in a cookerhood. The amount can be reduced if the spillage of fluegases might be caused by the outflow of air from theroom. Background ventilation is also required, either byproducing a constant extract rate of one air change perhour or by having ventilation openings of not less than4000mm 2 .5. Extract fan should be positioned as far away fromthe open flue as possible and should have a sufficientdedicated air supply. To undertake a test the oil firedappliance should be set in operation and the doors andwindows of the room containing it should be closed. Theextract fan should then be run at its maximum setting. Theoil fired heating appliance should be observed to operatesatisfactorily both before and after the fan is switched on.6. It is preferable for the air supply for an extract fan tobe located where it can serve the fan without the airstream passing close to the oil fired appliance.7. Oil fired appliances must not draw the combustionair from a garage.11Site requirementsAIR SUPPLY460K440K 127 cm 2147 cm 2480K 180 cm 2MODEL MIN. AIR REQUIREMENT499K 211 cm 2AIR SUPPLY
