The Agent will alsomonitor the system it is installed on. In order to use the full capabilities of the functionality, 2components need to be installed and configured correctly: Agent CommunicationCommunication with the Agent service on connected servers. UPS IntegrationThe link with the connected UPS in the rack (for more details see the UPS Integrationchapter). When UPS Integration is not enabled, communication to connected Agents will be limited tomanual actions only.ConfigurationSetting up Agent Communication is a 2-step process:1. Installing and configuring the Agent service on the connected devices.2. Configuring the EnergySwitch to communicate to the installed Agent.WARNING: If both UPS Integration is enabled and Agent Communication is correctly configuredthe EnergySwitch will perform automated actions according to strict pre-defined rules (based onbattery level, UPS status, etc.). Please review these rules and actions carefully to avoidunexpected behavior.Agent ServiceThe Racktivity Agent service can be installed on both physical and virtual machines and is used tomonitor certain system parameters and to allow the EnergySwitch or the user to perform agraceful shutdown or restart. The system monitoring is performed at a 30 second interval and collapsed every 5 minutes. The collapsed data can be retrieved from the Agent or sent to a predefined URL. This data willallow the Racktivity DCPM platform to provide very detailed and accurate power consumptiondown to application level. The current version (v1.0) of the Agent service monitors the following: Global CPU usage Total number of processes Top 10 processes according to CPU usage Disks and their storage info: mount point, used bytes, available bytes
