RBH INWALL SUBWOOFER INSTALLATION AND INSTRUCTION MANUALCongratulations on your purchase of the RBH MCS-88 subwoofer! Your subwoofer is theresult of many years of research and development dedicated to producing high qualityproducts for home audio and audio/video systems. This manual is designed to give you,the installer or owner, basic information as to the subwoofers installation and operation.TECHNOLOGYAt the heart of the MCS-88 is a proprietary aluminum woofer. The special aluminumcone combines stiffness, low mass and self damping properties in a manner that al-lows virtually uncolored presentation of program material. A powerful magnet andextended voice coil give the woofers high excursion capability, which ensures accuratedynamic reproduction.PAINTINGRBH in-wall subwoofer frames and grilles can be painted any color to match any decor.A plastic paint shield is supplied and placed inside the grille to protect the speaker frombecoming damaged during painting. PLEASE NOTE: This plastic paint shield mustbe removed before operation of the speaker begins. The MCS-88 utilizes a defeatable crossover network. This crossover is fixed at 100Hzlow-pass when the switch is set to “On”; the subwoofer will then only play frequencies100Hz and below. All frequencies above 100 Hz will be reduced by 12dB per octave. When set to “Off”, the subwoofer will play the full range of frequencies. This switchshould be in the “On” position when the signal sent to the subwoofer is ‘full-range’ ornot previously filtered through a crossover. The switch should be set to “Off” when thesignal sent to the subwoofer is coming from a source using a crossover, such as thesubwoofer pre-out from some receivers or pre-amplifiers. Please refer to your receiveror pre-amplifier owners manual for proper bass management settings information. Thiswill ensure that the subwoofer is not receiving a signal filtered through two crossovers. We suggest consulting with your installer, or experimenting with the crossover on andoff to determine which is best for your system.CROSSOVER
