Devicescan have SFP (or SFF) transceivers or gigabit interface converters (GBIC).Choose the fiber optic cable with the connector combination that matches thedevice being connected to the router: LC-type duplex fiber optic cable connectors are designed for SFPtransceivers. SC-type connectors are designed for GBICs. OM-3 connectors are designed for 10Gb ports.Installing New FirmwareThe router comes with current firmware installed. You can upgrade the firmwarefrom the management workstation as new firmware becomes available. You canuse either SANsurfer Router Manager or the CLI to install new firmware.Using SANsurfer Router Manager to Install FirmwareTo install firmware using SANsurfer Router Manager:1. In the topology view, double-click the router.2. In the Firmware Upload window, click Select to navigate to and select thefirmware to upload.3. To begin the firmware load process, click Start.WARNING!!Installing new firmware disrupts the router blade connectivity because youmust reboot the router blade to activate the new firmware.
