Turn off all power switches first. Plastic,rubber, wood, painted metal surfaces, and telephones are notacceptable grounding points. The printer isn't an acceptablegrounding point either because it must be unplugged before youperform this task.If you don't have an anti-static wrist strap, discharge your body'sstatic electric charge by touching a grounded surface before youhandle any printer boards or components and before removing thecontroller board cover. Also avoid walking around after groundingyourself.1 Turn off the printer, and then disconnect the power cord andall interface cables (parallel, serial, Ethernet, and theoptional interface, if installed) from the printer.2 Loosen the two screws, at the top and bottom of the metalmounting bracket cover on the rear of the printer.
