Installing or servicingthe product may expose you to risk ofelectric shock or other hazards. Refer allinstallation and servicing of your displayto authorized Pioneer service personnel.• Secure all wiring with cable clamps orelectrical tape. Do not allow any barewiring to remain exposed.• Do not drill a hole into the engine com-partment to connect the yellow lead ofthe unit to the vehicle battery. Enginevibration may eventually cause the insu-lation to fail at the point where the wirepasses from the passenger compartmentinto the engine compartment. Take extracare in securing the wire at this point.• It is extremely dangerous to allow thedisplay (sold separately) lead to becomewound around the steering column orgearshift. Be sure to install the display insuch a way that it will not obstruct dri-ving.• Make sure that wires will not interferewith moving parts of the vehicle, such asthe gearshift, parking brake or seat slid-ing mechanism.• Do not shorten any leads. If you do, theprotection circuit may fail to work prop-erly.• Do not install the display (sold sepa-rately) where it may (i) obstruct thedriver’s vision, (ii) impair the perfor-mance of any of the vehicle’s operat-ing systems or safety features, includ-ing air bags, hazard lamp buttons or(iii) impair the driver’s ability tosafely operate the vehicle.Note:• This unit is for vehicles with a 12-volt battery andnegative grounding. Before installing it in a recre-ational vehicle, truck, or bus, check the batteryvoltage.• To avoid shorts in the electrical system, be sure todisconnect the ≠ battery cable before beginninginstallation.• Refer to the owner’s manual for details onconnecting the power amp and other units, thenmake connections correctly.• Secure the wiring with cable clamps or adhesivetape. To protect the wiring, wrap adhesive tapearound them where they lie against metal parts.• Route and secure all wiring so it cannot touch anymoving parts, such as the gear shift, handbrake andseat rails. Do not route wiring in places that gethot, such as near the heater outlet. If the insulationof the wiring melts or gets torn, there is a danger ofthe wiring short-circuiting to the vehicle body.• Don’t pass the yellow lead through a hole into theengine compartment to connect to the battery. Thiswill damage the lead insulation and cause a verydangerous short.• Do not shorten any leads. If you do, the protectioncircuit may fail to work when it should.• Never feed power to other equipment by cuttingthe insulation of the power supply lead of the unitand tapping into the lead. The current capacity ofthe lead will be exceeded, causing overheating.• When replacing the fuse, be sure to only use a fuseof the rating prescribed on the fuse holder.• To prevent incorrect connection, the input side ofthe IP-BUS connector is blue, and the output sideis black. Connect the connectors of the same colorscorrectly.• This unit cannot be installed in a vehicle thatdoes not have an ACC (accessory) position onthe ignition switch.• The black lead is ground.
