Listening to your system22En0404Using the Advanced surroundThe Advanced surround feature creates a variety of surroundeffects. Try different modes with various soundtracks to seewhich you like.Using Stream DirectUse the Stream Direct modes when you want to hear thetruest possible reproduction of a source. All unnecessarysignal processing is bypassed.Using the Sound RetrieverWhen audio data is removed during the compressionprocess, sound quality often suffers from an uneven soundimage. The Sound Retriever feature employs new DSPtechnology that helps bring CD quality sound back tocompressed 2-channel audio by restoring sound pressureand smoothing jagged artifacts left over after compression. Press S.RETRIEVER to switch the S.RTV (Sound Retriever)ON or OFF.Note• The Sound Retriever is only applicable to 2-channelsources.Better sound using Phase ControlThis receiver’s Phase Control feature uses phase correctionmeasures to make sure your sound source arrives at thelistening position in phase, preventing unwanted distortionand/or coloring of the sound.Phase Control technology provides coherent soundreproduction through the use of phase matching for anoptimal sound image at your listening position. The defaultsetting is on and we recommend leaving Phase Controlswitched on for all sound sources. Press PHASE to switch the P.CTL (Phase Control) ON orOFF.Note• Phase matching is a very important factor in achievingproper sound reproduction. If two waveforms are ‘inphase’, they crest and trough together, resulting inincreased amplitude, clarity and presence of the soundsignal.
