Limitation of Functions forAreas not Stored on the DiscIf you are using AVIC-X1 or AVIC-X1R, the tripledisc must be used as the new disc after theupgrade. Therefore, detailed information aboutareas that you want to search for or areas whereyou want to be given guidance may not be storeddepending on the disc.For areas not stored on the disc, the functionswill operate as follows:Displaying the map• Maps with a scale of between 25 m and 200 mcannot be displayed. (If the scale was set tobetween 25 m and 200 m, it is automaticallyswitched to 500 m.)• When driving with Mixed Mode, St.ListMode or Driver’s View, upon entering anarea not stored on the disc the display auto-matically switches to Map Mode. (When thevehicle reenters an area stored on the disc, thedisplay returns to the previous map modeexcept for Driver’s View.)Destination search• You cannot search a destination in an area notstored on the disc using Address Search,POI Search, Vicinity Search or PostalCode Search (including operation by voicerecognition).• If you cannot search in a currently selectedcountry, the system may forcibly switch to thecountry selection screen.• A Motorway Search covers all areas, regard-less of the disc on which the information isstored.• If a Vicinity Search is performed on the bor-der of an area not stored on the disc, the sys-tem will not necessarily select the nearestfacility. (The search will take place only withinthe range of areas stored on the disc.)Guidance• When your vehicle approaches an area notstored on the disc, you will be notified threetimes: when the distance to the area not storedon the disc is 20 km (12 miles), 10 km (6 miles)and 5 km (3 miles) respectively. When yourvehicle enters that area, a caution is given.• In the areas not stored on the disc, only guid-ance for reaching the destination is provided.No other guidance is given.• If a route calculation is operated within anareas not stored on the disc, the route mightnot be set from the streets you are currentlydriving. Also, if you set the destination in anarea not stored on the disc of the disc, the sys-tem may not be able to set the route up to thedestination.• If the vehicle deviates from the set route in anarea not stored on the disc, the Auto Reroutefunction will not work.• Even if [Close-up of Junction] is [On], thedisplay will not switch to an enlarged map ofthe junction.• Even if you drive on the motorway, lane infor-mation, motorway exit numbers and motorwaysigns will not be displayed.Route information• If the set route goes through an area not storedon the disc, no route profile for that area will bedisplayed. (If the set route traverses both anarea not stored on the disc and area stored onthe disc, only the route profile within the areastored on the disc will be displayed.)• Route scrolling for an area not stored on thedisc is possible only with a map scale of 500 mor above.Other function limitationsMemory mode• Only data for areas stored on the disc can bememorised. (Data for areas not stored on thedisc cannot be memorised.)• Preparation for memory navi mode will have tobe repeated if the vehicle enters an area notstored on the disc, then returns to an areastored in the disc. (Preparation for the memorynavi mode starts from the location where thevehicle re-entered the area stored on the disc.)Avoid area• An area not stored on the disc cannot be set asan Areas to Avoid.❒ A set Areas to Avoid may be deleted whenthe software is updated. If this happens, thesystem will automatically try to recover thedeleted information, but data can be recov-ered only for areas stored on the disc.
