The product shouldbe cleaned only with a polishing cloth or asoft dry cloth. Never clean with furniturewax, benzine, insecticides or other volatileliquids since they may corrode the cabinet.ATTACHMENTS – Do not use attachments notrecommended by appliance manufactureras they may cause hazards.WATER AND MOISTURE – Do not use thisappliance near water – for example, near abathtub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, commode,or laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near aswimming pool, etc.ACCESSORIES – Do not place this appliance onan unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, ortable. The appliance may fall, causing seriousinjury to a child or adult, and serious damageto the appliance. Use only with a cart, stand,tripod, bracket, or table recommended bythe manufacturer, or sold with the appliance.Any mounting of the appliance should followthe manufacturer's instructions, and shoulduse a mounting accessory recommended bythe manufacturer.CART – An appliance and cart combinationshould be moved with care. Quick stops,excessive force, and uneven surfaces maycause the appliance and cart combination tooverturn.IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDSSERVICING – Do not attempt to service thisappliance yourself as opening or removingcovers may expose you to dangerousvoltage or other hazards. Refer all servicingto your cable company.REPLACEMENT PARTS – When replacementparts are required, be sure the servicetechnician has used replacement partsspecified by the manufacturer or have thesame characteristics as the original part.Unauthorized substitutions may result infire, electric shock or other hazards.SAFETY CHECK – Upon completion of anyservice or repairs to this appliance, ask theservice technician to perform safety checksto determine that the appliance is in properoperating condition.DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE – Unplug thisappliance from the wall outlet and call yourcable company under the followingconditions:÷ When the power-supply cord or plug isdamaged.÷ If liquid has been spilled, or objects havefallen into the appliance.÷ If the appliance has been exposed to rain orwater.÷ If the appliance does not operate normallyby following the operating instructions.Adjust only those controls that are coveredby the operating instructions. Improperadjustment of other controls may result indamage and will often require extensivework by a qualified technician to restorethe appliance to its normal operation.÷ If the appliance has been dropped or thecabinet has been damaged.÷ When the appliance exhibits a distinctchange in performance – this indicates aneed for service.POLARIZATION – This unit's power cord has apolarized plug (one blade is wider than theother). This plug will fit into the power outletonly one way. This is a safety feature. If youare unable to insert the plug fully into theoutlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug shouldstill fail to fit, contact your electrician to replaceyour obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safetypurpose of the polarized plug.POWER-CORD PROTECTION – Power-supplycords should be routed so that they are notlikely to be walked on or pinched by itemsplaced upon or against them. Pay particularattention to cords at plugs, conveniencereceptacles, and the point where they exitfrom the appliance.OUTDOOR ANTENNA GROUNDING – If anoutside antenna or cable system is connectedto the video product, be sure the antenna orcable system is grounded so as to providesome protection against voltage surges andbuilt-up static charges. Section 810 of theNational Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70,provides information with respect to propergrounding of the mast and supportingstructure, grounding of the lead-in wire to anantenna discharge unit, size of groundingconductors, location of antenna-dischargeunit, connection to grounding electrodes, andrequirements for the grounding electrode. SeeFigure A.LIGHTNING – For added protection for the unitduring a lightning storm, unplug it from thewall outlet and disconnect the cable systeminput. This will prevent damage due tolightning and power-line surges.OVERLOADING – Do not overload wall outletsand extension cords as this can result in a riskof fire or electric shock.OBJECT AND LIQUID ENTRY – Never push objectsof any kind into this appliance throughopenings as they may touch dangerous voltagepoints or short-out parts that could result in afire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of anykind on the appliance.VENTILATION – Slots and openings in thecabinet are provided for ventilation to ensurereliable operation of the appliance and toprotect it from overheating. These openingsmust not be blocked or covered. They shouldnever be blocked by placing the applianceon a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface.This appliance should never be placed nearor over a radiator or heat register. Thisappliance should not be placed in a built-ininstallation such as a bookcase or rack unlessproper ventilation is provided or themanufacturer's instructions have beenadhered to.POWER SOURCES – The appliance should beoperated only on the voltage indicated onthe product label.
